Many
manufacturers have written Price and Advertising Policies
that prevent E-Rackets from displaying, listing, or quoting
price by electronic methods.
Some
manufacturers have unwritten Price Policies that punish
retailers who do not comply by delaying or suspending
shipments to retailers for selling at prices below the
manufacturer's higher "Suggested Retail Price".
A
few manufacturers even forbid discussion or disclosure
of their price policies and a few manufacturers have terminated
E-Rackets for refusing to raise prices.
Adidas,
Babolat and Head/Penn are three companies that have terminated
E-Rackets for selling below mandated price levels.
Price and advertising policies are harmful to all consumers
seeking accurate information and fair prices.
Consumers deprived of prices set by true competition are
clearly denied the benefits of a free market.
